How to Attract Clients to Your Business Consulting Service with SEO

In the ever changing business world you need to have good sales copy that uses SEO to attract people to your business consulting service. Generally these tips are going out to our speakers, coaches, trainers and authors.

First The Basics

How To SEO Authors Speakers and CoachesSEO stands for search engine optimization. Every good search engine uses SEO to find and track webpages. SEO is the use of the specific keywords that the search engines use when a client enters a keyword into the search box. If your business consulting landing page does not use SEO, the chances of it being found are much less than if you had used SEO inside the webpages.

Good SEO will utilize keywords in the right amount to where it is not overloaded or under used. This makes it easier for people to find you on the internet. The right amount is never actually stated in any web search engine for you to look at there are many articles on SEO and ethics for people to follow. Most of the articles out there say that you have to really go overboard on the “stuffing of the keywords” (not recommended). A number around 15-20 depending on the size of your website would be fine, while a higher number may get you penalized.

Most business consulting services may also be listed in the Yellow Pages and White Pages of physical phone books. However, this day and age most people are throwing them out and using the Yellow pages online or search engines to find the information they are seeking. This is especially true now that most of America and the industrialized sections of the world have smart phones available to them that let them look up the information that they need. You will definitely need good sales copy that lets you get the most out of internet searches performed by your potential customers.

There are a lot of websites that get found using strategic keywords and SEO optimization. All it takes is understanding the simple keywords that people enter.

For example, on the front end someone is looking for business consulting services like speaker, coach or author. They type in their browser’s search box, “business consulting services”, and they get a bunch of websites that can be related to any number of business consulting services. If the first and second page are not what they are specifically looking for they will edit their search entry with another keyword on top of the previous one.

If you only use “business consulting” for your SEO, chances are that you will be missing out on possible sales for your business consulting site or firm. You need to add in all the services and products you sell to customers.

So if there are multiple types of services that you offer customers in your business you will have to list them separately in order for the search engines to pick up on your SEO keywords and not group them as one word. After that it is purely up to you what other keywords you want or need to use to draw business to your site.

The Specifics

Now that you know overall how to do your SEO, let’s dig a little deeper and discover HOW people are actually going to find you in the search. In the above example, someone will have to KNOW they want business consulting services….hmmmmm. What if they don’t know that this the right term? What if they are looking for help “growing my business”, “setting up goals” or “writing a business plan”. These are things that are on the “What’s in it for me channel” in their head!

So now you want to use your site to rank for business consulting services AND other keywords that might be SYMPTOMS of what ails them that you are going to help fix!

My two best tips for figuring out what keywords to shoot for…

1. Ask your clients and friends how they would look for you in the search engines and use some of those as a jumping off point for keyword research and..
2. Use the Google External keyword tool to check out what your competition is using (just drop their website into the URL spot!) Now, copying them verbatim won’t help, and some do a HORRENDOUS job of SEO, but there should be a couple of nuggets in there to get you started!

The possibility of missing a lot of sales and prospects for your business consulting service is tremendous if you do not set up your SEO well enough to attract the right people. SEO makes it so much easier for them to find your site through search engines and that means they will possibly hire your firm for their business consulting needs!

[Biz Consulting Services] What You Write Matters! Marketing Begins With Great Content

biz-consulting-services-write-mattersSо уоu аrе building a new wеbѕitе for your business consulting service. Whаt’ѕ thе mоѕt imроrtаnt thing уоu ѕhоuld dо, оnсе it’ѕ up аnd running? Wеll, it’s rеаllу pretty simple. Yоu wаnt tо attract сuѕtоmеrѕ to your ѕitе in order tо ѕеll tо thеm, right? Thаt means thаt уоu first nееd to build a ѕоlid ѕаlеѕ process into уоur site.

Thе firѕt step is to dеvеlор grеаt ѕаlеѕ copy. Thаt mеаnѕ high quality content! Whеn ѕоmеоnе gоеѕ to уоur ѕitе, thеу mаkе thе dесiѕiоn аbоut whеthеr оr not thеу wаnt to ѕtау in as littlе аѕ 5 ѕесоndѕ. So your jоb iѕ tо соnvinсе thеm thаt it’ѕ wоrthwhilе tо ѕtiсk аrоund.

To mаkе thаt happen, уоu nееd a killer, attention grabbing hеаdlinе. It hаѕ tо attract the visitors attention and motivate him or her to rеаd further. Yоu’vе gоt tо еntiсе viѕitоrѕ, to intriguе them – and tо let thеm knоw thаt thеу’vе found рrесiѕеlу whаt thеу wеrе lооking fоr.

But you саn’t rest оn уоur lаurеlѕ once you’ve developed a great hеаdlinе. Yоu nеxt hаvе to develop ѕоmе equally grеаt sales сору. Thiѕ high quality content is thе hеаrt оf уоur website. Whу? It соnvеrtѕ ѕitе viѕitоrѕ intо рауing customers.

Alѕо remember tо use high quаlitу content оn аnу links, bulk соntеnt, оr other mеdiа thаt уоu use tо аttrасt visitors to your site. Rеmеmbеr, уоu аlwауѕ want to mаkе a good imрrеѕѕiоn.

Yоur ѕаlеѕ сору should ѕhоw thаt уоu undеrѕtаnd your сuѕtоmеrѕ’ рrоblеmѕ. It ѕhоuld еngаgе thеm аnd explain hоw you аrе аblе tо hеlр thеm. Furthеr, it ѕhоuld tеll сuѕtоmеrѕ hоw thеу will bеnеfit whеn thеу buу уоur product, and it should оvеrсоmе аnу roadblocks tо thе ѕаlе. You wаnt tо entice уоur ѕitе viѕitоr tо become a сuѕtоmеr. Givе them a саll for action, a rеѕtаtеmеnt оf key bеnеfitѕ, thаt will mоtivаtе thеm tо buy. Finаllу, make the ѕаlеѕ process еаѕу fоr your сuѕtоmеrѕ.

Yоur second tаѕk is to соllесt tеѕtimоniаlѕ. Rеmеmbеr, wоrd оf mоuth sells bеѕt. And you саn rеасh a wide аudiеnсе through good testimonials. Aftеr all, thеу demonstrate thаt ѕоmеbоdу оut there knows thаt уоur service оr рrоduсt iѕ worth the money.

How саn уоu get tеѕtimоniаlѕ? Give away your product, in exchange fоr fееdbасk, if you dоn’t hаvе аnу customers yet. Or if уоu аlrеаdу hаvе ѕоmе роѕitivе сuѕtоmеr fееdbасk, ask thеir реrmiѕѕiоn to роѕt their comments on your wеb ѕitе. Never bе hеѕitаnt tо аѕk fоr tеѕtimоniаlѕ. Yоu саn even ѕеnd e-mails to your buуеrѕ as fоllоw-uр, asking for fееdbасk.

Finаllу, mаkе it еаѕу-еаѕу-еаѕу tо buy. Sоmе еѕtimаtеѕ are thаt аѕ many аѕ 50 реrсеnt of роtеntiаl web ѕаlеѕ еnd uр being lost bесаuѕе thе рurсhаѕing process iѕ confusing оr difficult. Dоn’t fаll intо thаt trар!

Mаkе it ѕimрlе tо navigate уоur site with сlеаrlу defined links and buttоnѕ. Dоn’t mаkе реорlе сliсk mоrе than twо timеѕ tо mаkе a рurсhаѕе. Mаkе it еffоrtlеѕѕ to рау, too, bу рrоviding a rаngе of орtiоnѕ. Yоu need tо accept сrеdit cards, оf соurѕе, аnd PауPаl рrоvidеѕ a соnvеniеnt option.

Alѕо, mаkе it еаѕу tо gеt in tоuсh with уоu. Prоvidе your е-mаil аddrеѕѕ and a phone numbеr. Yоu wаnt people tо be able to rеасh уоu if they hаvе quеѕtiоnѕ.

Using Video to Market Business Consulting Services

Using Video to Market Business Consulting ServicesIf you deal in providing Business Consulting Services, you cannot under-emphasize the importance of using video marketing in your marketing and promotional plans.

It’s a proven fact that video marketing of your services can dramatically increase the response rates from your customers, build trust, impart information and most importantly it can personalize your sales message. To make the right impact, it’s very crucial to make highly engaging videos, which can deliver your message in an entertaining way to your prospective clients. Apart from the right content, it’s important to shoot videos in highest possible video and audio quality to make a terrific impression on your clients.

When creating videos for your business consulting services, be sure to include these elements:

Great Content – To capture the attention of potential clients, your video needs to be entertaining, informative, and educational. Let your personality shine through and be creative, but make sure yo ur message clearly conveys what you do, why you are the right person to solve their problem, and what they can expect when they work with you. Authenticity, enthusiasm, and compassion will go a long way toward developing the know, like, and trust factor with prospective customers. Establish a personal connection with your viewers by encouraging their feedback on the contents of your message.

Share on Social Media – Sharing your video across your social media platforms is essential. Video hosting sites like YouTube have tools for linking your videos to your social media profiles and embedding them into your website or blog. Social media sites are incredibly popular among the masses, and one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to get your message in front of tons of people. Allowing users to engage with your video through a Like, Share or Comment will foster a greater connection with your viewers and help to create a viral element that will spread your message even further.

Call To Action – Now that you’ve entertained, educated, and informed your viewers, you need to tell them what the next step should be. Be clear, concise, and specific about what you want them to do, and give them the exact method by which to do it (“Call today”, “Book Appointment”, “Buy Now”, etc. Offer incentives for those who take action and rewards for referrals.

Email Marketing for Speakers, Coaches and Trainers

Email Marketing for Speakers, Coaches and TrainersEmail marketing for speakers, coaches and trainers is a no brainer! To succeed as a business consulting professional, you HAVE to have a following and the next logical step is to communicate with them regularly.

One of the benefits you have that most sales people don’t have is that people DO want to hear what you say. They come to your speaking events and think you are BRILLIANT and so look forward to hearing more about your “stuff”. They get on a webinar where you are talking about coaching and even if they aren’t ready to buy yet, they are ready to hear more about how you are going to help them.

So, that is all well and good, how the heck are you going to do email marketing without looking like a schmoe?

First off, what you first need to understand is they DO want to keep the conversation going. A certain percentage of them would like to buy something (your time, your course, a book) after the first time they encounter you. By not offering them something to buy, you are wasting an opportunity to help them.

Secondly though, some will not want to buy until they hear a little more and this is where email marketing comes into play. Now, don’t get me wrong, their interest does not constitute a reason to spam them! What is does is allow you to give them more great information so that they WANT to buy whatever it is you are selling.

if you are new to email marketing and need some additional help with the do’s and don’ts, please check out our free course, The Best Darn Email Marketing Course EVER!

Once you have permission to contact them, you want to set up a regular schedule of emails to communicate. For you speakers, coaches and trainers I recommend a monthly or twice monthly newsletter that details upcoming events, gives great info and offers good info. In addition, you should have a series of autoresponders that you hook them into based on their interests.

For example, our M&M Monsters site is geared to helping specific industry channels with their marketing. We would not send YOU an email about how to market your direct sales business (unless you had signed up to receive that information also!)

As you get started, I would figure out one or two channels of people you talk to and develop a series for each. Then you just make a web form that collects their data in return for their email address and start the autoresponders going!

A GREAT example of this is Deb Ward, a realtor in Clearwater FL. If you go to her site and look on the right hand side, you see she has a signup for FSBO (for sale by owners). These are people who have decided to list their home themselves and to NOT use an agent. What Deb does is send them a series of 4 emails telling them about some of the pitfalls of ALL real estate, not just FSBOs which keeps it from being self serving. Once they have gone through this series, many decide to list their home with the nice Irish realtor who gave them such great info!

Think about how you can extrapolate this to your business.

If you are selling coaching services for Doctors, you want to have a free offer like a report that lists the “How To Save Thousands of Dollars By Avoiding the 5 Deadly Mistakes Doctors Make With Their Patient Services”. You could talk about how just being nice to patients reduces malpractice claims by a certain percent, how giving patients an opportunity to complain can help with collections and any number of other interesting bits that doctors need to know!

Image how nice that phone call to do coaching is after the doctor realizes you DO know what you are talking about and you have her best interests at heart!

Email marketing for speakers, coaches and trainers truly is a no-brainer!

Business Consulting – Coaching and Public Speaking Go Hand In Hand

Business Consulting - Speaking and CoachingWe talk to a lot of people who want to start a coaching business and I have taken many classes and been coached on how to be a coach. Some were good, some were bad, but I go something out of every one of them that helps me in my business today.

That being said, most are focused on your coaching program, how to work with people, etc. and few of them are about how to actually get coaching clients!!! Well that all ends today…the best way to get coaching clients…drumroll please….is public speaking!

Why is public speaking so powerful for getting clients?

Number one, when you are the speaker, you are the considered authority in the room. The whole focus of the event is around you and you are able to present your message in its best possible light.

Secondly, when you are the speaker, you control the message. I am frequently asked to speak and during the time when we are negotiating the topic I have input. I can generally keep the topic to something that benefits my business as well as providing amazing value to the listener.

So now you have a speaking event and a topic that is conducive to driving coaching clients (for example, my goal setting talk is much more likely to result in new clients than my 100 Free Marketing Ideas as people looking for free marketing rarely have the money to afford my coaching program!)

How Do You Turn Listeners Into Buyers?

So now you have your venue and the ability to talk to people. How do you get them from those seats into your pipeline. Here are my top tips for connecting with coaching prospects from the stage:

  • Have your first slide or handout include your contact info. Things to include are your Email Address, Phone, Twitter handle, etc. This allows someone who likes your message to feel good about reaching out to you.
  • I like to have a flyer that offers a reduced cost one time session attached to the back of the handout (this is not always possible, but when it is make sure to include it). I NEVER talk about this offer during the speech or reference it, but it does prompt people to know that I am available to talk with afterwards. It is deliberately vague so that they can project whatever they want to talk with me about onto it. If you are just starting, you may want to offer a free consult.
  • Drive them to your website from within your speech. I will often say that I do not have time to cover this entirely (I don’t) but I have set up a page just for this event where they can make comments or ask additional questions. Offer something for free in return for their contact information on that page.
  • Ask them for their contact info. You can do this with a simple sign in sheet you hand around, offer a great doorprize in exchange for their card, or ask the organizers for a copy of the sign in sheet or excel spreadsheet.

As you do more public speaking, you will find that people pay you more and you are able to do less and less direct marketing (you can’t have a sales page if you are speaking at a sponsored event). None the less, I think that you are doing a true disservice to your audience if they feel like there is not a next step, should they connect with you and need further help.

Think about your favorite speakers, wouldn’t you like the opportunity to find out more about them? To know what products and services they offer and have the ability to connect more with them.

Don’t forget, you aren’t trying to sell something, just make a connection and get the ability to sell your coaching program later!
